Description

Delicious and easy-to-make Caramel Apple Slices featuring crisp tart apple slices dipped in rich, melted caramel and drizzled with smooth chocolate. Perfect as a festive treat or a simple dessert, this recipe combines the sweet and tangy flavors in a delightful bite-sized snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples

  • 4 medium apples (preferably Granny Smith or any other tart apple)

Caramel Coating

  • 16 ounces caramel bits (1 ½ bags)
  • 2 tablespoons water

Chocolate Drizzle

  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips (milk chocolate or white chocolate)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Sheets and Apples: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside. Wash the apples thoroughly with water, then pat them dry to remove moisture. Slice the apples into 1-inch thick slices, cutting away from the core to keep the slices intact.
  2. Melt the Caramel: Place the caramel bits and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the caramel bits melt completely into a smooth sauce.
  3. Coat Apple Slices with Caramel: Lay the apple slices evenly on the prepared baking sheets. Using a spoon, carefully spread or dollop the melted caramel onto each apple slice. Allow the caramel to set slightly while preparing the chocolate drizzle.
  4. Melt the Chocolate: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil. Heat in the microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  5. Drizzle Chocolate Over Caramel: Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel-coated apple slices evenly. Place the baking sheets in a cool place and allow the chocolate to set completely.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Once set, carefully remove the caramel apple slices from the parchment paper. You may need to trim any excess caramel that has spread out. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated for later enjoyment.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for the best balance of flavor.
  • If caramel or chocolate hardens too much, gently warm for a few seconds before using.
  • Vegetable oil helps the chocolate drizzle to be smooth and shiny.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  • For a festive touch, sprinkle chopped nuts or sea salt on the caramel before adding chocolate.
