Cheeseburger Pie Recipe

  • Author: Lana
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This hearty Cheeseburger Pie combines the classic flavors of a cheeseburger in a convenient, baked pie form. Ground beef, onions, and cheddar cheese are blended into a savory custard-like filling, baked to golden perfection. It’s an easy one-dish meal perfect for a comforting dinner or family gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Veggies

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pickles, chopped (optional)

Cheese and Dairy

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs

Dry Ingredients and Seasoning

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional Toppings

  • Ketchup (for serving)
  • Mustard (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s at the right temperature for baking your cheeseburger pie evenly and thoroughly.
  2. Cook the Beef and Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat, then season the mixture with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
  3. Prepare the Pie Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion mixture with 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, milk, eggs, all-purpose flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir everything until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed to form a cohesive batter.
  4. Bake the Pie: Lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish or pie dish, then pour in the beef mixture. Evenly sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pie is set in the center and the top is golden brown.
  5. Serve: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Slice and serve warm, optionally garnished with chopped pickles and accompanied by ketchup and mustard for added cheeseburger flavor.

Notes

  • You can customize this recipe by adding diced tomatoes or cooked bacon to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Make sure to drain excess fat from the cooked beef to avoid a greasy pie.
  • Letting the pie cool briefly before slicing helps it set better and makes serving easier.
  • This recipe can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
  • To make it gluten-free, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend suitable for baking.
