  • Author: Lana
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x

Description

These Creamsicle Orange Cookies offer a delightful blend of sweet, creamy, and citrusy flavors inspired by the classic summer creamsicle popsicle. Soft and chewy with a bright orange zest and white chocolate chips, these cookies bring nostalgic sunshine to your cookie jar.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest (about 2 medium oranges)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Add-ins

  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (or vanilla baking chips)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside for later use.
  2. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until the mixture is light, fluffy, and well combined, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Add Flavor: Beat the eggs into the creamed butter and sugars one at a time. Then add the pure vanilla extract, fresh orange zest, and fresh orange juice, mixing until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  4. Combine and Add Chips: Gradually mix the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients just until incorporated. Carefully fold in the white chocolate chips to evenly distribute them throughout the dough.
  5. Scoop and Bake: Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a cookie scoop or a tablespoon, drop portions of dough about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the cookie edges are set and the centers appear slightly soft. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated orange zest for the brightest, most vibrant citrus flavor.
  • Do not overbake the cookies; the centers should look slightly underdone when removed from the oven as they will firm up while cooling.
  • For thicker cookies, chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before baking.
