Scale
For the Pitcher
- 16 oz (2 cups) tequila
- 4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
- 4 – 8 oz (1/2 – 1 cup) simple syrup or agave
For a Single Serving
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 ½ oz juice (a combo of lime, lemon, and orange juice)
- ½ – 1 oz simple syrup or agave
For Simple Syrup
- Equal parts water and granulated sugar (e.g., 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar)
Instructions
- Make Simple Syrup: Combine equal parts water and granulated sugar in a microwave-safe bowl (for example, 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar). Microwave until the sugar dissolves completely, which takes a few minutes. Let the syrup cool and store it covered in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Prepare the Margarita: In a large pitcher, pour in the tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and simple syrup or agave. Stir well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Serve: Pour the margarita mixture over ice in glasses. Optionally, rim the glasses with tajin for an extra spicy kick. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- Updated recipe suggestion: For a single serving, mix 2 oz tequila of choice (blanco, gold, jalapeno, or other spicy tequilas), 2 oz triple sec (or Cointreau or Grand Marnier), and 2 oz lime juice. Shake with ice and pour into a glass with ice, rimmed with tajin if desired.
- To make homemade simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water, microwave until sugar dissolves, then let cool.
- Store margarita in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; not suitable for room temperature or freezing storage.
