Description

A soothing and aromatic Fresh Ginger Honey Tea recipe that combines the invigorating zest of ginger with the natural sweetness of honey and optional warm spices or herbs. Perfect for relaxation or a comforting boost during cold days.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • 8 ounces water
  • Honey (to taste, or substitute with maple syrup or agave)

Optional Flavorings

  • Orange or lemon slices or peels
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Turmeric (a small pinch or to taste)
  • Mint leaves (a few fresh leaves)

Instructions

  1. Heat the water: Place one cup (8 ounces) of water into a pot and heat over medium-high until it begins to warm up.
  2. Prepare and add ginger: While the water is heating, peel and thinly slice the fresh ginger, then add the slices to the pot.
  3. Add optional flavorings: If desired, select one additional flavoring such as a cinnamon stick, a pinch of turmeric, or a few mint leaves and add it to the pot with the ginger. You may also add orange or lemon slices or peels for citrus aroma.
  4. Bring to a boil and steep: Bring the water to a gentle boil while stirring once or twice, then turn off the heat. Cover the pot and allow the mixture to steep for 4-5 minutes to extract the flavors.
  5. Serve: Pour the tea through a strainer into a mug or mason jar if preparing ahead. Sweeten with honey, maple syrup, or agave to taste. Enjoy warm.
