  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

This indulgent traditional Italian Tiramisu is a classic no-bake dessert featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cream. Perfectly balanced with a dusting of cocoa powder, this recipe offers a creamy, airy texture and unforgettable flavor that’s sure to delight your guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Egg Mixture

  • 4 large Eggs (Ensure they’re fresh and high-quality.)
  • 150200 g Sugar (Adjust to taste.)
  • 500 g Mascarpone Cheese (Cream cheese can substitute but may alter flavor.)

Other Ingredients

  • 300 g Ladyfingers (Choose quality ones that absorb coffee well.)
  • 250 ml Brewed Espresso or Instant Coffee (Adjust strength to preference.)
  • 30 g Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (Dust on top for visual appeal and contrast.)

Instructions

  1. Separate Eggs: Crack the eggs, placing the egg whites in one bowl and the yolks in another to prepare for mixing.
  2. Whisk Yolks: Combine the yolks with sugar and whisk on medium speed for 3-5 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and frothy.
  3. Mix Mascarpone: Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the yolk mixture, blending smoothly without deflating the mixture.
  4. Whip Egg Whites: Beat the egg whites in a clean bowl until stiff peaks form, ensuring they are light and airy.
  5. Fold Mixtures: Incorporate one quarter of the whipped egg whites into the yolk mixture to lighten it, then carefully fold in the remaining egg whites for a fluffy texture.
  6. Prepare Coffee Dip: Pour brewed espresso or coffee into a shallow plate; briefly dip each ladyfinger for 1-2 seconds to soak without making them soggy.
  7. Layer: Place half of the dipped ladyfingers in your serving dish, spread half of the mascarpone filling evenly on top, then repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
  8. Chill: Cover the assembled tiramisu dish and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  9. Serve: Before serving, dust a generous layer of unsweetened cocoa powder over the top to add visual appeal and a slight chocolate bitterness that balances the sweetness.

Notes

  • Use fresh and high-quality eggs for best taste and texture.
  • Adjust the sugar amount based on your sweetness preference.
  • Dip ladyfingers briefly to avoid sogginess; they should be moist but still firm.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, avoid adding liqueurs traditionally used in tiramisu.
  • Chilling time is crucial for the dessert to set and develop flavors properly.
  • Substitute cream cheese for mascarpone only if mascarpone is unavailable, but expect a slight difference in flavor and texture.
