Description

These Mini Grilled Cheese Hawaiian Rolls are a deliciously easy and crowd-pleasing appetizer or snack featuring sweet, soft Hawaiian rolls layered with melty cheddar cheese, optional bacon, and a flavorful garlic butter topping baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Rolls and Cheese

  • 1 pack Hawaiian rolls (12-count)
  • 810 cheddar cheese slices or preferred cheese

Optional Meat

  • 4 slices turkey bacon, beef bacon, or chicken bacon (optional)

Butter Mixture

  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the mini grilled cheese rolls.
  2. Slice Rolls: Slice the entire sheet of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half without separating the individual rolls, creating a top and bottom layer.
  3. Add Cheese: Lay the cheddar cheese slices evenly over the bottom half of the rolls for an even melt.
  4. Add Bacon (Optional): If using, place the turkey, beef, or chicken bacon slices on top of the cheese layer.
  5. Replace Top Layer: Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls back over the cheese and bacon layer.
  6. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  7. Brush Butter Mixture: Generously brush the butter mixture over the top of the rolls to add flavor and promote browning.
  8. Cover and Bake: Cover the tray with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes.
  9. Uncover and Brown: Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the tops are golden and the cheese is melted.
  10. Slice and Serve: Slice the baked Hawaiian roll sliders into individual portions and serve warm for the best taste.

Notes

  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese such as mozzarella, Swiss, or pepper jack.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon.
  • Keep the rolls covered with foil during the first baking stage to ensure the cheese melts without over-browning the tops.
  • Serve these sliders warm for the best flavor and texture.
  • To add extra flavor, drizzle a little honey mustard or serve with ketchup or ranch on the side.
