Piña Colada Sangria Recipe

  • Author: Lana
  • Total Time: 4 hours 10 minutes (includes chilling time)
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Description

This Piña Colada Sangria is a refreshing tropical cocktail perfect for summer gatherings. Combining pineapple juice, white wine, and coconut rum with chunks of pineapple and maraschino cherries, this drink delivers a sweet, fruity, and creamy flavor reminiscent of classic piña coladas but with a delightful sangria twist. Ideal for chilling in advance and serving over ice to keep your guests cool and refreshed.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 12 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1 bottle white wine (Moscato recommended)
  • 8 ounces coconut rum (Malibu recommended)

Fruits

  • 12 ounces chopped canned pineapple (drained)
  • 4 ounces maraschino cherries including a little bit of juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Drain the pineapple chunks to collect any excess juice and set them aside. Measure out the maraschino cherries along with a little bit of their juice to enhance flavor and color.
  2. Mix the Sangria: In a large pitcher or sangria dispenser, combine the pineapple juice, bottle of white wine, and coconut rum. Stir gently but thoroughly to mix the liquids well.
  3. Add Fruit: Add the drained chopped pineapple and maraschino cherries into the pitcher. Gently stir again to evenly distribute the fruits throughout the sangria.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate the sangria for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight, allowing the flavors to meld and the sangria to chill properly.
  5. Serve: Serve the sangria chilled using a ladle, ensuring each glass gets a good mix of fruit and liquid. Optionally, garnish with extra pineapple slices or a cherry on a skewer for a festive presentation.
  6. Enjoy: Enjoy this tropical, fruity drink with friends and family at your next summer party or BBQ.

Notes

  • For best flavor, prepare the sangria a day in advance to let the ingredients meld.
  • You can substitute Moscato with any sweet white wine if desired.
  • Adjust coconut rum amount to taste for stronger or lighter alcohol content.
  • Serve over ice to keep the sangria cold and refreshing.
  • Garnishing with fresh mint leaves can add a nice aroma and appearance.
