  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Description

Delicious homemade Toffee Chocolate Bars featuring a buttery brown sugar crust, a rich toffee-infused condensed milk filling, topped with melted milk chocolate and crunchy toffee bits. Perfect for a sweet treat or dessert, these bars combine chewy, creamy, and crunchy textures in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter

Filling & Topping

  • 10 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 3/4 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 1/3 cups toffee bits (or 2 finely chopped Heath bars)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Base: Cream together 3/4 cup butter and 3/4 cup packed brown sugar until smooth and fluffy. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups flour and mix until the dough is well blended and sticks together.
  2. Press Base into Pan: Press the dough evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking pan to form the crust.
  3. Bake Base: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is a light golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool while you prepare the filling.
  4. Prepare Filling: In a small saucepan, combine 10 oz sweetened condensed milk and 2 tablespoons butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Spread Filling: Evenly spread the thickened filling over the cooled base in the baking pan.
  6. Bake Filling: Return the pan to the oven and bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes or until the filling turns golden.
  7. Add Chocolate Chips: Remove the pan from the oven and immediately sprinkle 1 3/4 cups milk chocolate chips evenly over the warm filling.
  8. Melt Chocolate: Return the pan to the oven for about 2 minutes or until the chocolate chips are shiny and soft. Remove from oven and spread the melted chocolate evenly over the filling.
  9. Add Toffee Bits: Sprinkle 1 1/3 cups toffee bits evenly on top, pressing them lightly into the warm chocolate to ensure they stick.
  10. Cool and Serve: Allow the bars to cool completely to room temperature before cutting into 24 pieces and serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use finely chopped Heath bars instead of toffee bits.
  • Be sure to stir the condensed milk mixture constantly to avoid burning or sticking.
  • Allow bars to cool fully before cutting to ensure clean slices.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • These bars can also be refrigerated but may harden; bring them to room temperature before serving.
